Some beautiful music for Sunday

I first heard the South African praise song “Siyahamba” at a choir concert several years ago, and it instantly became one of my favorites. This performance by the Tapiola Children’s Choir perfectly captures the spirit of the song.

Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkhos,
Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkhos.
Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkhos,
Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkhos.
Siyahamba, hamba, Siyahamba, hamba
Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkhos.
Siyahamba, hamba, Siyahamba, hamba
Siyahamba ekukhanyeni kwenkos.

We are marching in the light of God,
We are marching in the light of God.
We are marching in the light of God,
We are marching in the light of God.
We are marching, marching, we are marching, marching,
We are marching in the light of God.
We are marching, marching, we are marching, marching,
We are marching in the light of God.

Bluebird thanks for introducing me to the lovely children’s choir. The song they sang was beautiful.

I’m gonna steal it for my FB page. Recently had the privilege of singing bass in a Gospel concert with over 300 voices and five choirs. My two favorites were a simplified round-robin version of “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?” and an Anita Wilson-like version of “Jesus Will”. What an experience!

    • I’m envious! I would love to sing in a choir, but I could never pass the audition. I have sung in community choirs (the kind that will let anyone join who wants to) and church choirs (ditto) in the past and absolutely loved it. Wish I could have been at your gospel music extravaganza — it sounds wonderful!
