Born in Reno, Nevada on January 2, 1970, Eric Whitacre always knew that music would be his life. As a youngster his goal was to be a rock star, but all that changed when he started college at the University of Nevada and was persuaded to join the college choir, as he explains in the video below. After earning his bachelor’s degree in music education, Eric studied composition at Julliard, where he received his master’s degree. He went on to become a professional composer and conductor, as well as the originator of the Virtual Choir.
