    • Thanks! I can’t take credit for it — it’s one of the backgrounds that comes with the theme. I used to make all my own backgrounds (still do sometimes) but occasionally WordPress offers me a ready-made one that’s too good to pass up. 🙂

I immediately searched in my hymnals for this: lyric by John Henry Newman, 1833 but different tunes than this — — — hmmmmm

    beautiful this oratorio version though

I was quite taken by the John B. Sykes, 1865, tune and improvised on that for a wonderful while

Thank you, Lord, for Your bluebird’s leading of me down this Sunday path, tunefully humming and dancing on the keyboard

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed it. The poem has been around for more than a century and a half, and has been set to music by many composers; this is a rather new setting by a young American composer named Dan Forrest. He does new arrangements of old hymn melodies, as well as new melodies to old hymns. I really love his work and try to resist the urge to post something by him every Sunday! If you’d like to sample more performances of his compositions/arrangements, just click here and scroll down.
