  6. It would be interesting to compare these blatantly sexist ads with some of today’s ads. I believe the underlying message would likely be the same dressed in more subtly. Is it any wonder we women have insecurities? I think my favorite is the Midol ad with its androgynous guy. Could Madison Avenue have recognized even then that there were deviations from traditional relationships?
