Today’s cultural moment

It’s the 205th anniversary of the day that Jane Austen’s greatest hit was published, which gives me all the excuse I need to post this ancient (ancient meaning even older than YouTube) video… which, despite being about as amateurish as a video can be, still cracks me up every time I watch it. (If you are unfamiliar with the plot of Pride and Prejudice, you might want to give this one a miss, as it will make no sense whatsoever.)

  2. perhaps Today’s Cultural Cringe ” would have been a more fitting title for this post. I’m sure Miss Austen (I never refer to Miss Austen as anything but 🙂 ) is surely turning in her tomb in Winchester Cathedral.

I must admit that her Pride & Prejudice is my favourite book whenever I feel a bit down, I have no idea how many time I’ve read this, well actually now I turn the pages knowing exactly whats printed there.

Sometimes I do believe that her Persuasion is my favourite, but whichever of her books I pick up, it’s my favourite.

I have a boxed set all ready for my granddaughter Ruby for when she can read properly, She starts school later this year so it wont be long now.
