Happy birthday, Antonio

Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) composed this mandolin concerto 1725, while he was serving as violin master and composer-in-residence at an orphanage in Venice. It’s performed here by Israeli mandolinist Avi Avital and the Japanese ensemble Arte Mandolinistica.

  1. I’ve heard it said that Tony wrote the same concerto over 500 times.

I must admit that I enjoy his Gloria most. But then what else would you expect from an atheist?

Holy cow! I didn’t realize this was written for mandolin – I had heard it done on synthesizer and loved it the first time I heard it. THIS is even better!
