I’m listening to this, not on Good Friday, but Easter Saturday. I beautiful piece.
However, I spent a couple of hours yesterday listening to JS Bach’s St Mark’s Passion. I didn’t know he’d written a St Mark’s. He also wrote a St Luke’s Passion.
I actually heard the St John in the Thomaskirche, the church in Leipzig where he worked. A great experience.
