Happy birthday, Erik

It’s the birthday of French composer and pianist Erik Satie (1866-1925), who is best remembered for the Trois Gymnopédies for piano. Here are two of them in an orchestral arrangement by Claude Debussy.

    • The only time I was ever in Paris, which was more than forty years ago, I used to go to sidewalk vendors to buy postcards to send to friends and family back in the states. Some of the postcards had wonderfully evocative black and white photographs of Paris very similar to some of the pictures used in this video. I wish I could remember the name of the photographer, so I could figure out if it was the same guy.
