Today’s cultural moment

In honor of the 206th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice, here are a couple of magazine covers that will make no sense to anyone who is not a fan of either the novel or the 1995 screen adaptation.

  5. I’m a great fan of Miss Austen’s works, In fact I’m at the moment half way through Persuasion; again.

Anna Chancellor is a great great great ,,,, niece of Jane Austen
Seems the ladies above like that wet shirt scene from 1995 P & P, which is ludicrous and I always fast forward when it approaches. I don’t think Miss Austen would have approved either!

Claire Foy should have been Elizabeth Bennet.

Mr Firth has not aged very well, in fact I think quite poorly. 😈 :

Yes, I totally got these! Love that series. In my opinion, the best of many versions. Although the 1940 film, for all its period Hollywood short-comings, is pretty darn good. Hard to beat Sir Lawrence as Mr. D’Arcy.
