It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity.

My daughter was the quiet one. She liked decorating, especially walls.

I like the pre-scooler one. So true. When my now much, much older son was at that stage, a friend came round with her little girl, about the same age.
We chatted over a cup of tea, then noticed the silence. Going up stairs to investigate, we found the pair in the bathroom, both in the shower, fully clothed, and wet through!

OMG, I had one like that — silence meant trouble more often than not. Just one example: I had warned her multiple times to stay out of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, primarily because in order to reach it, she had to climb up on the toilet, and I was afraid she’d fall off and whack her head on the sink or the bathtub and get a concussion. Well, one day I was in the laundry room when my daughter came running in and started washing her hands rather frantically. I smelled something that I quickly realized was Preparation H, and there was only one way she could have gotten hold of that. I put on my best disapproving voice and asked her if she’d gotten into the medicine cabinet. Her eyes grew to approximately twice their normal diameter and she said, “How did you know?”
