I can relate to this as this year – for various reasons – none of my children/grandchildren will be with us on Christmas day. I’m thankful for FB and cellphones so we can at least see one another though not in person.

Out comes the tissue! It’s such a pity that so many people are alone at Christmas.

This is the first Christmas without my Mom. So very strange.
Speaking of estranged, I wonder if we’d have to pull a dirty trick like that to get my son and our grandkids to get back in touch with us.
Count your blessings.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one – Dad/Grampa should never have had to trick his family into coming. Why would he want to see them if they never make the time for him? Bah, humbug! 😀

But, but. . . they’re BIZZZEEEEE! {eyeroll}
I quite agree with you.

My best guess is that he felt the need to impress upon them the fact that he wouldn’t be around forever. It’s an easy thing for kids to forget.
