Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) premiered his oratorio Elijah in Birmingham, England in 1846. The libretto comes mostly from the Old Testament, chiefly First and Second Kings, Isaiah, and the Psalms. This chorus is a setting of Psalm 91:11.
