Happy birthday, Weird Al
October 23, 2019Alfred Matthew Yankovic — better known as “Weird Al” — was born on October 23, 1959. While in his teens, he began making tape recordings of his original songs and sending them to Dr. Demento, a nationally syndicated disc jockey with a penchant for comedy and novelty music. Dr. Demento gave Al his start in show biz by playing his songs on the air. Al went on to record more than 150 original and parody songs. His albums have sold more than 12 million copies and he has performed more than a thousand live concerts. He also wrote and starred in the wonderfully quirky film UHF.
Here’s Weird Al singing his own “Happy Birthday” song.
